Child Autism Assessment
Our Child Autism Assessments are for parents/carers who are concerned that their child may have Autism Spectrum Disorder. A growing number of people are seeking out alternative services to gain Autism Assessments for their loved one due to very high waiting times within other services.
Our Child Autism Assessments are suitable for young people aged 4-17 years old.
This assessment consists of:
- A Clinical appointment with a trained Autism specialist to complete a full and detailed developmental history of your loved one.
- A Clinical observation session of your child with a trained diagnostic clinician. This usually consists of an ADOS assessment. If you have any questions regarding this session (and how to prepare your loved one for this) then you can discuss this with a clinician in the first appointment. Alternatively, you can read the "What to expect in an ADOS assessment" article on the CareGen blog section of the website.
- A Multi-Disciplinary team meeting between the assessing clinicians will be held at the end of the child observation session. Within this meeting, the clinicians will review all of the information that has been provided from initial school reports, developmental history and observations from the child session. The clinicians will then discuss whether your child meets the diagnostic criteria for a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder.
- A detailed Clinical Report outlining the outcome of your child's Autism assessment. A copy of this report will be sent to your child's GP to be added to their health records. The report also consist of strategies and recommendations that many families can take to school and other services to get support put in place for their child.
At CareGen, we aim to provide feedback of the Assessment on the same day, in order to minimise any delays in your loved one getting the support they require. The detailed clinical report will also be sent to you within 2 weeks of the final appointment.
